The application

What the application includes.

St. Albans asks families to apply online through its application portal, Ravenna.

Entry grades
The entry years are grades 4, 6, 7 and 9. Grades 5, 8, 10 and 11 are non-entry years.
Non-entry grades
Places in non-entry grades are limited: grade 8 averages 0 to 2 a year and grades 10 and 11 average 0 to 3 a year. The school does not offer tours or shadow visits for non-entry grades.
Steps
Apply online through Ravenna, then submit the questionnaire, transcripts, two teacher recommendations and SSAT, ISEE or HSPT scores.
Application fee
$80 for domestic applicants and $120 for international applicants. Families can contact the Admissions Office for a waiver code.
The parts
The grade 9 application has an application form, a seven-question applicant questionnaire, transcripts, two teacher recommendations and test scores.
Questionnaire
Applicants to grades 9 through 11 type answers to seven questions. The school says no outside source should be used.
Recommendations
Two teacher recommendations, from the applicant's current math and English teachers, requested through Ravenna.
Grades
Parents submit a Transcript Request form for the current year (first and second quarter) and the previous school year. Transcripts and recommendations are due January 13, 2027.
Visit and interview
Grade 9 applicants spend a day at the school: Admissions, a campus tour, classes and lunch with a 9th-grade student ambassador. Visits and interviews run from 9:10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on select days from October through early February.
Deadline
The application for 2027-28 entry is due January 5, 2027.
Decisions
Decision letters are posted in each applicant's Ravenna account on February 26, 2027.
